Nature's Influence
A Sense Of Place
Explore how the elevation, soil and climate of the California coastline uniquely influences the character of these seven exceptional wines.
Elevation on mountainsides brings cooler temperature and the ideal amount of sunlight for grapes to ripen. Coastal breezes from the Pacific Ocean allow grapes to hang longer on the vine and maintain crisp acidity. Fog rolling in from the coast to the valley floors creates the ideal climate for cool weather grapes to thrive. These conditions, combined or each attribute on their own, establish a sense of place in the final wine, transporting you with each sip.

Discover The Wines

Copain Rosé,
Mendocino
County

The Region
Pinot Noir grapes are planted on steep north-facing slopes and mountaintop vineyards in Yorkville Highlands. This creates shorter periods of sunshine during the day and cool, brisk breezes at night. This allows the fruit to ripen slowly and retain crisp acidity.
The Wine
Crafted from 100% Pinot Noir, this fresh Rosé is a true expression of Mendocino. Bright aromas and flavors mingle together for a fresh wine that can be enjoyed during all seasons of the year. It is versatile when it comes to pairing with food and can be enjoyed during all seasons of the year.
Tasting Notes: Strawberry, Papaya, Mint, Lilac, Fresh Flowers, Wet Stones
Pairs Well with: Pan-Fried Calamari with Hot Cherry Peppers

Matanzas Creek Winery Sauvignon Blanc, Sonoma County

The Region
Volcanic, rocky soil and cool maritime influences, including ocean breezes and early morning fog, allow for a long growing season in many regions of coastal Sonoma County. Blending fruit from valley floor, hillsides and high mountain vineyards with a unique combination of elevations, microclimates and soil creates beautiful ripe flavors and fragrant aromatics.
The Wine
This Sauvignon Blanc is crafted to express vivid aromas with a crisp, refreshing finish. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks retains the delicate floral aromas and lively citrus flavors. Alive and electric, this elegant white wine has a long finish that leaves you wanting another sip.
Tasting Notes: Lime, Lemon, Nectarine, Melon, White Flowers, Lemongrass, Bosc Pear
Pairs Well with: Lobster and Crab Cake with Lemon Basil Aioli

Brewer-Clifton "Cellar Selection" Chardonnay, Sta. Rita Hills, Santa Barbara County

The Region
Sta. Rita Hills is a very special appellation located within the low-lying Santa Ynez Valley in Santa Barbara County running east to west rather than north to south. The direction of this valley allows fog and cool air to flow directly in from the ocean, creating mild winters, cool summers and one of the longest ripening seasons in the world. This extended hang time and perfect temperature combined with sedimentary soils and diatomaceous earth grows delicious, intensely flavored Chardonnay grapes.
The Wine
37 barrels were hand-selected to create this cuvée exclusively for The Generous Pour. Fermentation in 100% neutral oak allows the wine to maintain its fresh citrus aromas for a bright, balanced Chardonnay with a touch of salt on the finish. While equally delicious to drink now, this wine could age for years to come.
Tasting Notes: Lemon, Lime, Mandarin Orange, Jasmine, Saline
Pairs Well with: Seared Sea Scallops with Main Lobster and Asparagus Risotto

Hartford Court Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley, Sonoma County

The Region
Located in Northern Sonoma, the Russian River Valley has more diverse soil types than all of France. The landscape is truly unique, varying from lower valley floor to rolling hillside vineyard sources. Temperature spans a wide range from the cooler fog-filled valley floor to the warmer sun-exposed hillsides above the fog. This, along with the many soil types of each site, combines to create the perfect terroir for world-famous Pinot Noir from this region.
The Wine
This Pinot Noir combines a collection of small vineyards located throughout the Valley. Each distinctive site contributes different aroma, flavors and textures to the complexity and character of the final blend. This coastally influenced region creates a wine with silky tannins and a subtle earthy finish.
Tasting Notes: Black Cherry, Blueberry, Black Currant, Wild Raspberry, Allspice, Crushed Rock
Pairs Well with: Seared Citrus-Glazed Salmon with Marcona Almonds and Brown Butter

Bootleg "Prequel" Red Blend, Sonoma County

The Region
Sonoma is not easily defined, encompassing seven valleys and 19 viticulture areas stretching from the Pacific Coast to the Mayacamas Mountains. The low valley floor fruit gives the wine ripe fruit flavors that are plush and full-bodied and the high mountain fruit provides intense mouth-coating tannins, acidity and deep color.
The Wine
Prequel captures the best of Sonoma County, featuring Syrah, Petite Sirah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Grapes are fermented in open and closed-top tanks where the skins are punched down and wine is poured over the top to elicit the true expression of each varietal in the blend. Lighter red in color with touches of lavender in the glass, this fruit-forward wine features full round tannins, medium acidity and a long finish.
Tasting Notes: Dark Fruit, Blueberry Compote, Lavender, Black Pepper, Black Olive, Barrel Char
Pairs Well with: Double Cut Lamb Rib Chops with Mint Gremolata

Edmeades Zinfandel,
Mendocino County

The Region
Mendocino’s rugged coastal mountains are home to bold wines grown on the hillsides like Mendocino Ridge. The close proximity of the ocean fills Anderson, Redwood and Ukiah Valleys with fog and creates dramatic diurnal weather shifts with cool nights and warm days. This ripens the fruit while still maintaining bright acidity and a fresh, lifted style of Zinfandel.
The Wine
This wine is handcrafted with minimal manipulation, allowing the soils and climates of each site to be present in the glass. Made with a hint of Syrah added for brightness and texture, this wine is fruity and lush with subtle tannins and a rich, fresh finish.
Tasting Notes: Cinnamon, Clove, Blackberries, Black Currant, Dried Sage
Pairs Well with: Sliced Filet Mignon with Cipollini Onions, Wild Mushrooms and Fig Essence

Legacy Red Wine, Alexander Valley, Sonoma County

The Region
Alexander Valley is an inland growing area in Northern Sonoma composed of low hills sheltered from the coast. Close to the Russian River, cooling fog rolls nightly into the valley floor. However, Alexander Mountain Estate, where these grapes are planted, is atypical of the region and has a patchwork of high-elevation vineyards that look down upon the valley floor. The rocky soil and elevation create wines of great intensity that are age-worthy for decades to come.
The Wine
A soaring mountain estate, hidden heritage sites and ancient vines combine to create this Bordeaux-inspired red wine. Handpicked Cabernet Sauvignon predominates this blend with Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot for added aroma and depth. An elegant balance between richness and structure creates a layered, powerful wine.
Tasting Notes: Cassis, Blueberry, Blackberry, Cherry Liqueur, Cocoa Nib, Bay Leaf, Graphite
Pairs Well with: Porcini Rubbed Bone-In Ribeye with 15-Year Aged Balsamic
